Review: Margarita's Fiesta on Baldwin
Review - Food & Drinks
Tuesday, 07 July 2009 00:00

While craving for Mexican food, I remember this unique place down on Baldwin that everyone knows where it is but never remember the name. I don't remember the name either but decided to go there for dinner on the weekend hoping it is still there.  As far as I can remember, this restaurant always have a lineup regardless how how early you get there except this time.

Two of us arrived around 8pm, no lineup, but a steady flow of diners. The place is tiny and cramped and the decor remains largely the same from my last visit few years ago. We ordered the Guacamole with chips and salsa - the guacamole and chips hit the right spot but very disappointed with the salsa. The salsa tasted like from a cheap canned version instead of a homemade one you would expect.

Followed with Beef Burritos and Chicken Enchiladas. The beef burritos was delicious filled with ground beef and refried beans.  The chicken enchladas was a bit plain and the chicken could have been seasoned better. At $10.95 you don't get any side dishes like rice or salad. If you do add any side dishes, your main course will easily be a $20 meal.

For drinks, one Sangria and one raspberry margarita. At $6.95 each, you do expect a large serving and you do get large one. Both are delicious and a good match for the food ordered. I do like to know how much alcohol are in those two drinks as we hardy get any buzz from the drink.

Overall, it was a positive dinning experience at this old favourite's hangout but there are a few things they could have done better especially the salsa and maybe they should revise the menu so that each dish comes with proper side dishes instead of the not-so-spoken À la carte.
