SUGAR SHACK CULINARY FESTIVAL
Just In - Food and Drinks
Friday, 03 April 2009 08:16

To correspond with the launch of a new spring dining menu, Drake brings Torontonians the much-loved flavours of a Quebec ‘Cabane à Sucre’, with a special 2-week ‘Maple Culinary Festival’, April 1 to April 17, 2009, featuring the defining delicacy of the Canadian woods: Maple Syrup!

During early spring, when the maple sap is ready to be tapped, the Drake presents Chef Anthony Rose’s Sugar Shack inspired menu including French Pea Soup with Maple Ham ($7), Stuffed Potato with Roasted Pork, Crème Fraiche and Scallions ($8), Smoked Brisket with Cheddar Biscuit and Bourbon Charred Onions ($14) and so much more. These original Drake treats taste great on their own, but as it turns out, maple syrup goes with everything. No need to head north for that beloved rustic getaway feeling.

On Monday, April 6th, The Sugar Shack Festival includes an industry-friendly culinary cook-off and bartending competition featuring top Toronto Chefs and Bartenders from The Drake, Harbord Room, Didier, Niagara Street Café, Oyster Boy, and others. All of Drake’s Sugar Shack offerings will be 'sweetened' to 86’d Monday special pricing. Enjoy a true Canuck party ambiance with great Canadian music, classic Canadian images and burlesque.

Experience Drake’s very own Sugar Shack on the newly renovated Sky Yard. Every Thursday through Saturday, sample the sweet taste of maple toffee poured on snow; old-time, maple flavoured snow cones or enjoy maple syrup inspired cocktails by the fire under the stars. Featured drinks include: The Maple Julep - a mix of bourbon, fresh mint with lemon and maple syrup ($11); Bacon Infused Bourbon Old Fashioned with Maple Syrup ($12); or the Applejack Rabbit - Calvados, a mix of orange juice, lemon juice and maple syrup with a cinnamon-sugar rim ($11).
