To bring you up to speed with the world of Via Tania, Tania has personally selected some of her audio highlights to date for you to download at your leisure. To download "An Introduction to Via Tania" please click here.
1. Become Forest (taken from the album 'Moon Sweet Moon') Tania: ‘Become Forest' is probably the oldest written song on ‘Moon Sweet Moon' because it went through so many stages and musicians. Ultimately it was stripped down in Austin with producer Craig Ross. 'Fall into the trees become forest', is essentially what the song is about, being lost and trying to find a way back, not physically of course...It's never physical with these songs.
2. Everyworld (taken from the album 'Moon Sweet Moon') It was a newer direction for the songs that had been recorded up to that date. Craig and I were going for ‘Wizard of Oz' style backing vocals, all swoony and singing in unison.
3. March (taken from the EP 'Boltanski') Tania: This music for ‘March' was arranged by Casey Rice - and was entirely based on computers and sampling. When I originally wrote the track, I had an idea of an entire calendar record, and in turn a more immediate, environmental, seasonal, ‘what-is-actually-happening-right-now' kind of song. I wanted 12 months to do it. How things were each month, literally. I followed it up with 'February' on ‘Moon Sweet Moon' but that's as far as I've managed to get so far.
4. Lightning and Thunder (taken from the album 'Under A Different Sky') ShopToronto.com's favourite. Tania: This track was a collaboration with Scott Herren (Prefuse 73, Savath and Savalas). Initially I thought he would drop some beats on this one but instead we got classical guitar. It was a great feel, nice and simple. I'm playing bass here, which probably only happens once an album!
5. If I Know You (taken from The Presets' EP ‘If I Know You', remix by Via Tania and Jori Hulkonnen)

To many, Via Tania and her unique brand of self-described ‘moon pop' are, as of yet, undiscovered musical gems of real beauty. The last five years have witnessed her traipse her own quiet path between Australia and the United States, as well as many exotic locales in-between, putting the finishing touches to her sophomore release, ‘Moon Sweet Moon', which will be released in the United States this Fall.
